the beauty in perspective during this New Moon 🐚🌑🌊✨
Have you been feeling exhausted or drained this past week, without quite knowing why?
Astrologically, there’s a clear reason: many planets are moving into new signs, and on June 25th, we have a New Moon in the sign of Cancer. This powerful lunar event invites us to reset and realign/ How will you choose to engage with this energy? Will you resist it, or will you alchemise it into growth and healing?
(Do you see the pun here? Use code NEWMOON10 for 10% off my books now 😊)
There is a privilege in being able to choose how to see this energy, a bit like the saying about the cup — is it half empty? Half full? Is it enough or an indication that you want more?
To wake up and choose to see the beauty in both the mundane and the extraordinary is a skill we should practice more and this New Moon is a perfect opportunity to do so.
My friends and I have Witchy Woo Nights’where I prepare rituals and meditations for New Moons, Full Moons and any other significant astrological events. Since we have all gone home for the summer I wrote this for them, and for you - thank you for being here. What a beautiful thing it is to connect with yourself like this.
So, what’s a New Moon?
Let’s cover the basics quickly:
A New Moon occurs when the moon conjuncts with the sun, causing it to not be visible from earth
Spiritually, it is a blank slate. A time to release, renew and feel reborn.
A time to set intentions.
What’s so important about this New Moon?
It falls in the sign of Cancer - themes of home, emotional healing, safety, vulnerability are at the centre of this New Moon
It’s important to feel safe in your dreams with this New Moon. Explore emotional truths that resurface at this time. Cancer is a water sign and thus whatever comes to the surface is important, acknowledge and process it before you set it free.
Jupiter also falls in the sign of Cancer - Jupiter represents luck, expansion and abundance.
Saturn is also at play within this New Moon - working with Saturn placements is fundamental to the expansion that the sign of Cancer is encouraging.
As always, I’d recommend checking your Transit chart and seeing what house the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn fall in as this will be the area of life that you’ll be personally affected by.
To do this:
Go to Astro Seek, put in your birth information (make sure the time of birth is accurate)
Put in the time of the transit happening in your area - a quick google search will tell you this.
Look at the orange symbols and trace them to the numbers in the middle to see what house it will fall in.
What should you do during this New Moon?
This New Moon will be emotional. There is no avoiding the discomfort of sitting there with feelings you have buried but you have a choice. Do you:
A - Resist the emotions and bury them deeper
or
B - Process them and use the energy to align with your Higher Self.
This is where perspective comes in. It's natural to want to run from discomfort but it's a gift to be able to pause, sit with it, and listen to what it's trying to reveal. Emotions aren’t to be feared. They can be uncomfortable, yes, but they are also signposts gently pointing into the right direction. So ask yourself:
Why am I feeling this way?
What have I been suppressing?
What do I need to heal to be able to let go?
Shadow Work
This is where Shadow Work comes in!
Shadow work journaling is the practice of writing to explore your hidden emotions, triggers, and inner child wounds in order to understand, heal, and integrate those parts of yourself.
So here are some journal prompts to help you understand each emotion deeper:
What emotions do I tend to avoid or suppress? What would happen if I gave myself permission to fully feel them?
What does home feel like to me? How can I feel that way in my daily life?
What inherited patterns from family am I ready to release or rewrite?
What does my inner child still need to hear in order to feel safe and seen? - Write a letter to them.
As always, I wouldn’t be a poet if I didn’t provide some poetry prompts alongside it:
the sound of the sea
generational lessons
the cup is half…
the thought of you brings me home
Rituals
My friends often tell me this is the most Witchy Woo part of anything I do spiritually and I love it. Rituals are intentional acts done with presence and meaning. Unlike routines, which can become mindless, rituals invite you to slow down and connect—to your body, your emotions, your spirit, or something greater than yourself. They turn the ordinary into the sacred.
Often people are quick to see the idea of a ritual and immediately assume it has no value and is pointless. You’re entitled to that thought but what a dull way to view the world! There is beauty in rituals - in taking the time to be intentional with your desires, emotions and hopes for the future. Especially as women, taking the time to align with the feminine nature of the Moon allows us to connect to roots deep within us.
So here are some rituals:
Collect some New Moon water - Leave a jar outside/a cup on your windowsill and speak your intentions for what you’d like to bring into your life. In the morning, take this water and use it depending on what you're trying to manifest - e.g. to feel more confident, wash your face with the water. if you’re trying to heal within your body, drink some of the water, etc
Releasing Rituals - usually I’d encourage burning but since this is a water sign, I’d suggest writing 5 things you want to release, placing the paper into a bowl of water and watch it absorb and soften until it disintegrates. Once done, poor the water outside and say out loud ‘Thank you. I can release you now’
Taking a Bath - if you have any crystals (Moonstone, Turquoise, Clear Quartz, Pearl, White Opal, Seashell) put them around the bath, use sea salt, lavender or chamomile to soothe your body. Play any 396 Hz or 528 Hz music in the background.
I never used to understand the importance of spirituality and belief. When you spend so long within the darkness of your thoughts, the light can be intense when you first see it (thank you Plato for that allegory). Belief is fundamental to us as human beings. It allows us to thrive, to be present, to be safe within ourselves and ultimately it all comes from perspective.
To be able to see the world and the impact of energy is a gift I am grateful for. Thank you for allowing me to share this with you.
Soak up this New Moon and alchemise the energy for good!
All my love,
Becca
